Pro skateboarder Bastien Salabanzi has announced a new community focused skate day called Skate For Peace, set for 1st of July.
The idea comes as an addition to the usual Go Skate Day, but with a different focus centered on people coming together through skateboarding and speaking out about conflict happening around the world.
According to his announcement, the event is meant to bring skaters, crews, and local communities into one shared moment where skateboarding is used as a way to express support for peace and opposition to war and genocide.

The Skate For Peace idea is being presented as a day where skaters can meet up in their local areas, skate together, and use that time to raise awareness while also keeping things rooted in skateboarding culture.

Reactions within skate circles are likely to vary, since events that mix activism with skating often bring different opinions.
Some will see it as a meaningful way to use skateboarding as a public voice, while others may prefer keeping skating separate from political topics.
Still, the announcement has already started conversations online, with people sharing the date and discussing how local meetups might look.
Skate For Peace is being positioned as an open invitation for skaters everywhere to take part in a shared day on their boards with a message behind it.
