The founder of the Uganda Skateboard Society, Nsubuga Gerald, has shared uplifting news with the global skate community.
After undergoing surgery, Gerald confirmed that the procedure was successful and he is now on the road to recovery.
In an awesome update, Gerald expressed how much the worldwide support has meant to him during this difficult period.
Skate media platforms like Thrasher, us at ShreddER, and The Nine Club helped spread the word about his condition, uniting skaters and supporters from different corners of the globe.
The response from the community showed how deeply connected and supportive the skateboarding family can be.
Gerald also showed love to his close people, especially Ukko Liikkanen and Lena Salmi, who came through with the idea and helped make the surgery happen.
He said their support and quick moves probably saved him from way bigger problems later on.
Although the operation was successful, Gerald shared that he will need to stay off his skateboard for the next six months while focusing on recovery.
He assured everyone that he plans to return stronger and healthier once the healing process is complete.

"Surgery was a success. Thank you to everyone who stood by me through this tough time, your support means the world.
Big love to @thrashermag shredder.news @thenineclub and so many media platforms for spreading the word and rallying the global skate community around me. Couldn’t have done it without y’all. I would also like to thank @ukko77 & @britalena for having my back and coming up with the whole surgery idea and it has indeed saved me from future consequences.
Gonna be off my skateboard for the next 6 months and I will get back better and stronger 💪"
