The College Skateboarding Educational Foundation (CSEF) has announced the PUSH 5K Skate-A-Thon, a nationwide fundraising event tied to Go Skateboarding Day on June 21, 2026.

The event brings skaters together across the country to complete a 5K skate while raising money for CSEF college scholarships.

At the center of the initiative are local skateshops, which are being invited to step into a hosting role for their communities.

Each participating shop can register as a Community Captain location, serving as a meeting point where skaters gather before heading out on their 5K routes and returning to the same spot after finishing.

This setup gives shops a simple way to turn a familiar annual date into something that also supports education opportunities for skateboarders.

The fundraising aspect is built around a peer to peer model. Skaters can sign up online, create their own fundraising pages, and invite friends, family, and supporters to contribute.

On June 21, they take on their 5K skate wherever they choose, turning everyday streets, parks, and paths into the backdrop for their personal efforts.

All donations go toward scholarships that help skateboarders pursue higher education.

The idea behind the PUSH 5K Skate-A-Thon comes from Justin Regan, a CSEF board member known for creating Emerica’s Wild in the Streets, a community skate event that helped shape early Go Skateboarding Day gatherings in 2005.

His involvement brings a long history of connecting local skate communities through shared participation rather than formal competition.

Regan shared that the intent is to give skateshops a straightforward way to build something meaningful around Go Skateboarding Day without needing a complicated setup.

“Go Skateboarding Day is already the biggest community moment of the year for shops. This gives it a purpose. Your shop becomes the hub. Your crew becomes the team. And every dollar raised goes directly to putting skateboarders through college.”
