He explained that a visit to his orthopedic doctor confirmed what the emergency room doctor already suspected.
He had completely ruptured his patella tendon, a serious injury around the knee area that affects the connection between the kneecap and the lower leg.
He went into surgery the following morning at 8 a.m. and was able to return home later the same day at around 3 p.m.
The fast turnaround stood out in his message, especially given how intense the injury sounds at first read.
He also gave thanks to several people who helped him get through the early stages of treatment. One of them was Autumn Grace at Range Sports Therapy, who helped arrange an MRI appointment quickly so he could bring the scan directly to his doctor.
Having that scan ready helped speed up the next steps with his medical care.
He also mentioned appreciation for his surgeon, Warren Kramer III MD, who was able to schedule the operation the very next day.
AVE shared that he felt fortunate to be taken in so quickly after the injury happened. He also brought up previous treatment with Dr. Kramer, noting that past work on his shoulder healed well and had a strong outcome.
Family support was another big part of his message.
He thanked his wife Anna Kissling, who has been taking care of him while also handling things at home with their children.
He described how much help she has been during recovery at home, especially while he is limited in what he can do day to day.
He also took time to respond to the many messages he received from people sending support after hearing the news. He said he appreciated the kind words and encouragement during this period of recovery.
The injury has paused his usual time on the board, and recovery will take time as his body heals from surgery. For now, the focus is on rest, rehab, and following medical guidance so he can regain strength in the knee area over time.
