Things have been getting more gnarly around the skate scene lately as political talk keeps spilling into conversations that usually stay centered on skating.
One of the latest talking points comes from President Donald Trump’s ICE to NICE proposal, a concept that has already triggered strong reactions online within the skateboarding community.
The idea being floated is tied to changing how immigration enforcement agents are referred to in public discussion and media language.
Supporters from the Boonies Skateboards circle, including its boss Tim Pool, have shown backing for President Trump’s stance. Some MAGA aligned skaters have also expressed support, framing it as part of a broader conversation about immigration policy and enforcement.
Not everyone in the skate world is on board with it.
Mexican professional skateboarder Luis “Moose” De Los Reyes has been one of the more outspoken voices against it.
Moose reacted strongly to the proposal and showed that he is not supportive of the Trump administration or the direction this idea represents. In a moment that quickly spread online, he used explicit profanity while speaking about Donald Trump, showing just how frustrated he feels about the situation.
The reaction is not isolated either.
Thrasher Magazine has been openly critical of President Trump in the past, and several well known skaters including Tyrone Olson and Ron Allen have also been associated with opposing viewpoints.

Even within older generations of pro skaters, there is a noticeable divide when political topics enter the conversation.
Some voices tied to the Piss Drunx era, including Dustin Dollin, have also been mentioned in connection with anti ICE sentiment, further showing that opinions inside the skate community are far from uniform.
At the center of all this is a growing split between skaters who prefer to stay away from political discussions and those who feel the need to speak up when policies or proposals start affecting the world around them.
Moose’s reaction reflects the latter group, where personal views and frustration come out very directly, especially when the topic hits close to home.
For now, the discussion around ICE to NICE continues to circulate online, with both support and criticism coming from different corners of the skateboarding world.
