Downtown Los Angeles was lit up and torn apart Saturday night when Thrasher’s Halloween Hellbomb went completely off the rails.
UPDATE: Thrasher Issues Statement on DTLA Riot, Says Halloween Hellbomb Is About Skating, Not Destruction
It was supposed to be a skate sesh, but the second the crowd hit heavy, the whole scene switched. 1st and Hill turned into a warzone, skateboarders wildin’ out, no one giving a damn who’s watching.
By the time the crowd filled the intersection, it was pure madness.
Boards were being used to destroy a Waymo car or a robotaxi, core heads were yelling, music was blasting, and cops were nowhere in sight for a good minute.
Someone pulled up in a driverless car, and that thing didn’t last long. People jumped on it, smashed the windows, kicked it in, and rode over the hood like it was another ramp.
Cameras were out everywhere, and the crowd hyped it up even more.
When the cops finally pulled up, it didn’t calm down. Skaters started charging the line, bottles were thrown, and boards were broken.
You could hear the crowd booing as officers pushed everyone back. The LAPD went tactical, trying to break things up, but the streets were too packed. Sirens echoed through downtown while all the hesh dudes still skated around like it was part of the show.
One person got hurt bad enough that firefighters had to come through.
Cars and storefronts nearby got hit, and the streets were littered with broken glass, boards, and Halloween masks. By the time it ended, the whole area looked like a scene straight out of a riot movie.
No one really knows who set it off or how it blew up that big.
All anyone knows is that it spread fast online, and by the time people showed up, it was already too deep to control. Police said they’re still looking into it, but the city’s left picking up the mess.
Thrasher’s Hellbomb has always been wild, but this year it crossed into full-blown chaos. Downtown LA will be talking about this night for a long time.
