Former Boonies pro skateboarder Taylor Silverman recently drew attention online after criticizing Jennifer Strang, the mother who was tragically killed in a Canadian school shooting carried out by her son, Jesse Van Rotselaar.
The shooting left eight people dead, including Strang and her 11-year-old stepbrother. Eerie photos of the shooter holding a rifle circulated widely following the attack.
Strang had been vocal online about her beliefs and her desire for a kinder world.
In a resurfaced Instagram post from July 16, 2024, she urged people to stop spreading hate online.
Strang described herself as a conservative leaning libertarian living in a small town, and she expressed frustration at online hostility, writing:
"Facts! As a conservative leaning libertarian who lives in the north and loves living in a small town. I really hope the hate I see online is just bored old people and not true hatred. Do better and educate yourself before spewing bullshit online. Makes you look dumb. Evolve. I normally don’t say anything and I normally don’t go on shitbook to see the keyboard warriors and I know I can’t control everything or shield my kids from everything but please for the love of fuck can you get your shit together so we don’t have to bring our kids up in a world full of hatred. Do you have any idea how many kids are killing themselves over this kind of hate. Please STOP the bullshit! #ProtectTransKids"
Strang also posted in September 2025 about the killing of Tyler Robinson by Charlie Kirk’s followers, commenting on the dangers of political extremism. She wrote:
“Sheeesh… & trumps son said bullets were only flying one way 🤔 I’m glad I’m not far right or far left 😬 political extremism blinded by rage is mental!”
After the resurfaced posts came to light, Silverman weighed in.
The pro skater shared her view on social media, writing:
"These didn’t age well. The mother of Jesse Strang was a hardcore “trans rights activist” who wanted “transgender” children. She was murdered by her mass murderer son who she began “transitioning” as a child."

The story has drawn attention not only because of the tragic events themselves, but also because of the way past social media posts and advocacy are being discussed in the wake of such violence.
Strang’s posts focused on stopping online hate and protecting children from hostility, while Silverman highlighted what she saw as the consequences of Strang’s past views on trans issues and parenting.
The tragic events in Canada have left many people reflecting on online discourse, parenting, and the impact of social media.
Strang’s posts remain a snapshot of her concern for the safety and well-being of children, while Silverman’s response shows how online commentary and advocacy can become the center of debate after tragedy.
