As we previously reported, skate legend and the man who forever shaped the skateboarding industry, Steve Rocco, returned from the dead by joining Sidewalk Distribution.
Hence, Bill Weiss, Hugh "Bod" Boyle, Steve Douglas, and Louie Barletta made sure to let skateboarders know that Rocco won't influence them to do dumb sh*t in their company after they have been getting letters of concern.
Sidewalk Distribution posted:
Dear customers,
With the recent announcement of Steve Rocco joining sidewalk distribution we have received quite a few letters from people expressing concern that Rocco's presence in the industry is pure evil. We want to assure you that he wields no influence over us and we will continue to conduct business as usual.
Thanks for your concern
-Steve D, Bod, Louie and Bill
Rocco conquered core skateboarding by using his DIY and punk attitude business mindset to scare corporations away from the industry.
In recent times, the cancel culture movement has been gaining momentum and influence.
Consequently, even symbols and logos that have been around for many decades are not immune to the cancel culture's reach.
One such example is the 1978 OG Independent Trucks logo, which has recently been removed and canceled due to its perceived association with certain negative connotations.
Weckingball was also not safe and has been canceled and said "skateboarding has gone woke.
Just like Piss Drunx legend Dustin Dollin thinks that skateboarding has gotten soft these days and said, "Now skating be like everyone welcome like pre-school."
Without Rocco's mastermind to help Sidewalk Distribution, skateboarding in general will be generic, and more top corporate executives will always try to milk the skate industry.
The unique and authentic counter-culture that Rocco helped to create would only be possible to make skateboarding great again if Sidewalk let him take the lead and charge in the gunfire.
