A weeklong search for missing 63-year-old skateboarder Julie Elizabeth Goforth has ended in tragedy after authorities found her dead in a remote area of the San Bernardino County desert.
As we previously reported, Goforth disappeared on July 10 while riding dirt bikes with a friend at the El Mirage Dry Lake Off Highway Recreation Area in Adelanto, California.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, she and her friend became separated after Goforth decided to head back to their vehicle to rest.
When her friend later returned to the vehicle, Goforth was gone. Deputies were notified and launched an extensive search of the recreation area, but neither Goforth nor her dirt bike could be located during the initial efforts.
After several days of searching, authorities located Goforth deceased in a remote section of the desert on July 16 at approximately 12:27 p.m.
Investigators have not released additional details about what led to her death, and officials say the case remains under investigation. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department has not announced if foul play is suspected.
The news has saddened those who followed the search and those within the skateboarding community, where Goforth was recognized as an active rider who continued enjoying skateboarding well into her sixties.
