For anyone who has been skating since the late 1980s, Ron’s name should stand out. In 1988, he appeared in H Street’s Shackle Me Not, becoming the first Black skateboarder to have a dedicated solo video part in a major skate film.
That section became an important part of Ron’s legacy and remains one of the reasons his name continues to come up when people talk about that era of skateboarding.
Now, nearly 40 years later, Ron’s history is being featured on a physical collectible.
His card will be available in different premium paper versions, including special print variations for collectors to track down.
It is a cool way to introduce younger skaters to someone who helped shape skateboarding during an important period, while giving longtime fans something they can actually add to their collection.
Other Level Skateboard Cards’ first series looks like it will be one to watch for collectors interested in skateboarding history.
