Former professional skateboarder and high-speed pusher in the streets, Omar Salazar has stepped back from professional skateboarding and is now diving into photography.

It’s been quite a ride for him. He recently shared some thoughts on social media about his time in Altadena, where he captured the messy aftermath of the fires that hit the area.

In his post, Salazar expressed how deeply this experience shifted his perspective. He found a new sense of purpose through his photography, using it not just as a creative outlet, but as a tool to connect with his community in times of crisis.

His genuine thoughts of support and unity went out to everyone dealing with the fires. But more than that, his words showed how people can bounce back from tough times and reminded us all to appreciate every moment before it's too late.

Salazar posted, "Lately, I’ve been capturing life through my lens—28 days in Altadena, post-fire. When I couldn’t make it home, the only thing left was to help my community and document its resilience. Life is shifting, pieces still coming together. You never realize how great things are until they’re gone. Never take life, the people you love -or the world around you for granted. Wishing strength to all affected by the fires.🖤"
