Professional skateboarder Nora Vasconcellos has always shown that skateboarding is about more than filming clips and entering contests.
She has spent years giving back to young skaters, and her latest community event in Boston is another great example of that.
Earlier this month, Nora joined forces with Welcome Skateboards, adidas Skateboarding, Spitfire Wheels, Thunder Trucks, Super Skate Posse, Journeys, Shred.Co, and BCYF Boston to donate 100 skateboards along with helmets, shoes, socks, and backpacks to local kids.
For many children, getting a complete setup can be expensive.
Receiving a brand new board and safety gear can open the door to spending more time skating, making friends, and building confidence.
Seeing so many kids walk away with everything they needed made the event special for everyone involved.
Nora recently came out publicly as gay, and many people have praised her for being open about who she is.

At the same time, she continues spending time helping young skaters and supporting her local community.
Actions like these show how much she cares about making skateboarding welcoming for the next generation.

It is always great to see companies giving back, but it is even better when professional skaters are there to meet the kids, hand out the gear, and celebrate with them.
Judging by Nora's reaction, the smiles on everyone's faces made the day just as rewarding for those giving as it was for those receiving.
