Behemoth's frontman, Nergal, is again set to face court for allegedly "offending religious feelings." The Polish musician, whose real name is Adam Darski, has been accused of stomping on a photo of the Virgin Mary in 2019, according to Notes From Poland (NFP).

This is not the first time Nergal has been in trouble with the law for his stage antics. In 2007, he was charged with "insulting religious feelings" after he referred to the Catholic Church as "the most murderous cult on the planet" during a performance.

He was acquitted of the charges in 2010, but the case brought him significant negative attention and backlash from religious groups.

Nergal has been vocal about his atheism and criticism of organized religion throughout his career, both on and off stage.

He has described himself as a "satanist" and has said that his music is a form of rebellion against religious authority and dogma.

However, Nergal's actions have not gone unnoticed, and he has faced significant backlash and condemnation from some members of the public, particularly in Poland, where the Catholic Church wields substantial influence.

The case raises important questions about free speech and the limits of artistic expression. While many argue that Nergal's actions were offensive and disrespectful, others say that he has the right to express himself freely and artistically, even if it offends some people's beliefs.
