YouTube skater Luis Mora said his time with Lakai came to an end after he says he received a 30 day notice at the start of June.
He said the notice came directly from new CEO Marc Roca and that he has now officially been let go from the company.
According to Mora, the situation did not stop with his exit.
He stated that he was also informed the entire skate team would be removed by the end of the month. He claimed that every skater involved with the brand had either already been removed or was in the process of being removed.
Mora shared his side of what happened behind the scenes, saying he wanted people to better understand the situation from his point of view.
He described a period where the team was working through several internal issues and trying to bring stability back to the company.
He said the company had been addressing cash flow issues, repairing relationships with skate shops, and working to get operations back on track.

He also said several projects were in development.
This included planned street parts from each member of the team. Mora said many of these were close to completion, and that one part from skater Roman was expected to be released at the start of the month.
Mora also discussed his agreement with the company, saying he was vesting toward a 22 percent ownership stake in Lakai. He added that there are still open questions surrounding those arrangements and that he could not discuss further details due to legal reasons.
Mora also alleged that Marc Roca decided to liquidate inventory through several channels, including the factory that produced the shoes and was still owed money.
Mora said the team was not fully aware of the timing or details until a "Bye Bye Lakai" sale appeared online offering shoes at heavily reduced prices.
He added that no one involved wanted to harm the brand and said the timing of the sale had already affected skate shops and distributors that had previously purchased Lakai products at higher prices.
Mora expressed disappointment over how events unfolded after what he described as a long period of effort from those involved with the company.

He said there was trust placed in the rebuilding process and expressed hope that people would continue supporting skate shops that still carry Lakai products.
Mora also said that before termination notices were officially sent, he personally contacted every skater on the team to explain the situation based on the information available to him at the time.
He added that his post was intended to do the same for supporters and others connected to the brand.

Mora also stated that he was not seeking anything from the situation and only wanted to share his perspective to provide context for skaters, retailers, and supporters.
Mora ended his statement by thanking everyone who supported Lakai and the team over the years.
He said he is grateful for the experiences and relationships he built during his time with the company and that it was difficult to see things end this way.
