Lititz Skatepark has put out a notice telling everyone that alcohol is not allowed at the park at any time.
The message was shared to keep things safe and comfortable for everyone who comes to skate, hang out, or just spend time around the spot.
The skateboarding world has long had stories tied to the “Piss Drunx” era from the early 2000s.
That time is often remembered for a crew of skaters who lived fast and heavy on drinking and wild behavior while being part of skateboarding’s notorious lifestyle.
While that period is sometimes talked about with nostalgia in certain circles, it also came with serious consequences and real life consequences that affected people in the scene.
Several well known skaters connected to that era have since moved on from that lifestyle.
Many shifted their focus toward health, responsibility, and staying out of situations that could lead to harm. The past is still talked about, but it is also seen as something that does not need to be repeated.

At Lititz Skatepark, the concern is more immediate.
Alcohol at public skate spots can lead to unsafe situations, especially when people are skating nearby or when crowds start to form. Arguments and altercations become more likely when drinking is involved, and that affects everyone using the space, including younger skaters and families.
Not everyone reacts the same to alcohol, and that unpredictability is part of why the rule is in place.

A calm session can turn stressful when people are intoxicated, and that is something the park is trying to avoid altogether.
The skatepark’s message was simple and direct:
"Please remember, alcohol is not permitted at the Lititz Skatepark at any time. Thank you for your help and cooperation! Stay safe and have fun out there!"
