Lakai officially returns to the streets and the company is wasting no time showing that it is still operating after the departure of YouTube skater Luis Mora.
As we previously reported, Lakai CEO Marc Roca fired Mora from the company. Following his departure, Mora said several riders would also be leaving, while others with existing contracts would remain with Lakai until the end of June.

Despite all of that, Lakai has continued operating as usual under Roca's leadership. The company has stayed active online, kept products available, and continued promoting its team and footwear.
One of the first things Lakai did was launch a big sale on its official website, dropping the price of every skate shoe to $50.
Their core skate shop Tactics also joined in with its "Bye Bye Lakai Sale," helping sell through remaining inventory while bringing more attention to the brand during the transition.
Lakai also made it obvious that it is keeping two of its biggest names on the roster. OG pro skater Bastien Salabanzi remains with the company, along with Skater of the Year and Trick of the Year Chris Joslin.
The company recently shared a post featuring Joslin skating in the Telford Elite White Suede along with a collection of his clips, showing that Lakai is still promoting its signature products through one of its biggest riders.
Not long after, Lakai also shared a message dedicated to Bastien Salabanzi.
"The good times build memories.
The hard times reveal loyalty. Thanks @bastiensalabanzi for believing in Lakai.
We’re proud to keep moving forward together."
That post makes it pretty obvious that Lakai values the decisions of both Salabanzi and Joslin to stay with the company during this period since both are highly respected figures in skateboarding.
Even after losing Mora, Lakai continues to show that the business is still operating. Keeping respected pros like Bastien Salabanzi and Chris Joslin gives the company a strong foundation while it works through its next chapter.
From the outside, Roca appears focused on keeping the company running, maintaining its team, and continuing to sell products.
While Mora is no longer part of the brand, Lakai has shown that it is not shutting down and still has plans for the future while continuing to support the skateboarding community.
