A beach trip became a gnarly fight after Democratic congressional candidate skateboarder Kirill Basin got into a heated argument that ended with him laid out cold in the sand.
The whole thing was caught on video, and it didn't take long before clips started making the rounds online.
According to reports, everything started after a 61-year-old man asked the skateboarder to turn his music down.
What should have been a simple conversation allegedly went completely off the rails. Witness Kama Homan claims Basin responded by threatening to shoot the man's wife, which is when he decided to step in.
Homan said he wasn't looking for a fight, but after hearing the alleged threat, he felt somebody had to do something.
The skater and Homan started arguing, then the yelling turned into fists flying on the beach while people stood around watching.
One thing people noticed in the video is that Basin never grabbed his skateboard during the fight.
He had it with him, but when it was time to throw hands, he left the board alone and squared up like it was going to be a regular fight.
It didn't end well for him.
The fight was over fast. Homan landed a clean punch that dropped Basin flat on the sand, leaving him knocked out cold while beachgoers watched everything unfold.
Police say there was another twist after the fight.
According to investigators, Basin had a knife on him during the confrontation.
Officers say he tossed it into the ocean, and a bystander later went into the water and recovered it before police arrived.
After everything settled down, officers arrested Basin on two counts of first degree terroristic threatening.
His bail was set at $1 million. During his court appearance, his attorney argued that the amount was way too high.
Homan later said he had no clue Basin was running for Congress when they got into it. He said he only stepped in because he believed the older man was being threatened and wanted to back him up.
