In a new vlog, YouTube star John Hill explains why professional skateboarders are retiring and completely just skate for the love of it.
One reason for pros leaving the professional ranking is the insufficient amount of money earned for a skate career.
He mentioned that it's due to the Gen Z skaters focusing more on non-skate brands.
According to Hill, the younger generations are buying designer products earlier than the OG generations. "So, I think money seems more important to the youth today."
If you only buy from corporate companies, the legit skateboarding brands will eventually be out of business.
Hill added the important factor of having a YouTube channel as a souce of income after a pro skater retires.
Subsequently, professional skateboarders such as Chris Roberts, Moose, Pedro Delfino, and Tom Asta are now embracing the YouTube skater route after the core community realized they could earn more money as YouTube skaters.
Although fellow YouTube skater Dale Decker said that the space has become too saturated, it's now the new 9-5 job with little money coming in, unlike when YouTube sensations were few.
