The Mayor of Skateboarding James Kelch had everyone holding their breath this week after he revealed he had a serious heart scare.
In a post that was equal parts blunt and hilarious, Kelch wrote:
“Ya man done went and had a hearty.”
Just reading that makes you feel like nothing can knock this guy down for long.
A day later, he gave fans an update that was both chilling and funny at the same time.
He wrote, “Still alive ya nerds. Might go home today. I feel great. Hella odd thinking I almost died and that I have a stint in my heart. But oh well. Guess I wait for a bit to see whats going on with the other side. Plus you nerds would miss me and all that. So I’ll chill for a bit. Fuck. Don’t we still got shit ta do. Let’s go!!! Also. I can’t tell you how much all the love and support from yall helped me through this. Thank ya. Love ya.”
It is wild to think that someone could go through something as serious as a heart stint and still post like nothing happened.
But that is Kelch. He does not overcomplicate things or get caught up in fear. He takes it as it comes, cracks jokes along the way, and makes sure the people who care about him know they are appreciated.
Fans have been flooding his posts with messages of support, telling him to take care and not do anything reckless.
But if you know Kelch, you know he will be back on his board soon enough, probably ready to do exactly what he wants.

For now, Kelch is taking it easy, following the doctor’s advice, and letting his body recover.
