Grey Skateboard Magazine has officially closed its doors after 16 years of covering skateboarding culture.
Fans of the magazine received the news from the company itself, which hinted that there could still be some activity on YouTube since more professional skateboarders are building audiences there.
The team at Grey shared a message with their followers:
"After 16 years, we're calling it a day. Working on Grey has been a great privilege, but for us, it's time for a change. We'd like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone we've worked with or who has supported us in any way, including of course our readers and followers. We'll be saying goodbye here and on greyskatemag.com soon, but we'll leave our YouTube channel up for the foreseeable future."
For many core heads, Grey has been the go-to platform.
It documented the ups and downs of local and international skateboarding, showcasing both the creative and personal sides of the people behind the boards.
While the print and online publication will no longer be active, skaters can still catch content from the team on YouTube, where skaters continue to share tips, tricks, and updates from their world.
The closure marks the end of an era for the skateboarding community, but the team’s shift to video content shows how media in the skateboarding world continues to evolve.
Grey Skateboard Magazine may be gone, but its influence and the memories it created will live on for the readers and skaters who followed it over the years.
While you’re at it, you can subscribe to their YouTube channel if you haven’t already here.
