According to reports, Jack Black is back on the board, once again taking on the role of Officer Dick in the upcoming release of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4.
And this time, he is not alone. Joining him is Constable Richard, Dick’s English counterpart, who seems to have the same over-the-top attitude and ability to throw a high kick in full uniform.
Officer Dick first appeared in the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game in 1999 as a secret skater.
Since then, the character made a few more appearances in the series, but it wasn’t until the 2020 remake of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 that Jack Black stepped in to give him a voice and an even more animated presence.
Now, with the upcoming release of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, Black returns not just as Officer Dick but also as Constable Richard, complete with a British accent and his own set of moves.
In true Jack Black fashion, both characters come with a bit of flair and comedy that should make them stand out from the rest of the roster.
The game’s developers wanted to build on what made Officer Dick such a fan favorite in the first place.
According to game director Kurt Tillmanns, Black’s role in the last release left a strong impression. He mentioned that having Jack Black yelling at skaters in the school level made for a memorable moment. That kind of character, the one who would try to chase players off the school grounds, became part of the charm of the remake.
With that in mind, the team invited Black to return. Instead of just repeating what worked before, they expanded the character’s story. Officer Dick’s bio now reveals that he was once mocked for trying to skate, labeled a poser by the local crew. After being laughed at, he decided to become the very thing skaters avoided - a figure of authority with a badge and a grudge.
The English version of the character, Constable Richard, is cut from the same cloth. While the setting may be different, the tone remains playful. In preview clips, you can catch both characters performing wild tricks, making exaggerated faces, and showing off moves that are as ridiculous as they are impressive. Of course, Jack Black’s voice is front and center.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 will be available on July 11, 2025. The game is set to launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, Nintendo Switch, and PC through Steam, Battle dot net, and the Microsoft Store. It will also be part of the Game Pass lineup for both console and PC players.
There are some changes expected in the remake of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4. While full details have not been shared yet, developers have hinted at updates to how the mechanics will work. It seems they are aiming to refine the experience while keeping the spirit of the original games.
With Jack Black back in the lineup, fans can expect a mix of chaos, humor, and some truly odd skating moments. Officer Dick is back, Constable Richard is ready to roll, and both characters are sure to add a bit of fun to a game that already knows how to not take itself too seriously.
