The situation has also brought more discussion around ICE within the skateboarding community, with core heads on different sides of the political debate speaking out.
MAGA skateboarding legend Henry Sanchez has continued to support President Donald Trump and his immigration policies, even as a number of prominent pros, brands, and magazines within the skate community have strongly criticized ICE.
Sanchez has also defended Trump's approach to immigration while comparing it with the record of former President Barack Obama.
In his comments, Sanchez questioned why there was less criticism of Obama's deportation policies compared with the backlash against Trump.
His argument focuses on deportation numbers and the immigration policies carried out under both administrations.
The conservative pro skater has pointed to what he sees as a difference in how Trump's immigration policies are being discussed compared with Obama's.
His position puts him on a very different side of the ICE debate from several prominent voices within skateboarding.
Thrasher has previously voiced opposition to ICE and called for the agency to be abolished.

REAL Skateboards has also spoken out against ICE, with OG pro skaters Tyrone "T-Bone" Olson and Ron Allen among those who have publicly criticized the agency.

Sanchez, meanwhile, continues to publicly support Trump and defend the administration's approach to immigration.
He pointed out: "Trump deports 70% who have no criminal record, Obama deported 67% who have no criminal record."
He says the figures show that a similar share of people deported under both administrations had no criminal record, arguing that Trump has received far more criticism for deportations than Obama did.
He also argued that many deportations under both presidents involved people who were already under deportation orders and did not go through a new judicial hearing.
Sanchez questioned why there was not the same level of public outrage over Obama's immigration policies.
The Republican pro skater further pointed to Obama's reputation among immigration rights groups as the "deportee in chief" and cited a figure of roughly 94 deportations per day during Obama's presidency.

He also criticized sanctuary states for assisting Obama's administration with immigration enforcement.
His broader argument is that the criticism directed at Trump over immigration should also be applied when discussing Obama's record.
Separately, another ICE-related story is now getting attention.
The Department of Homeland Security is planning to equip some ICE officers with gloves that can deliver electric shocks to people who are not cooperating in the field, according to an agency notice.
ICE is planning to spend between $10 million and $20 million on the CTG-5 GLOVE, which stands for Generated Low Output Voltage Emitter.
The device is described in the notice as a "conductive distraction and de-escalation device."
According to the notice posted on the Department of Homeland Security's Acquisition Planning Forecast System, the gloves would be issued to officers and agents working in DHS's criminal investigative unit and Enforcement Removal Operations.
Enforcement Removal Operations is responsible for arresting and removing people who are in the country unlawfully.
A description of the device on the U.S. Army's website says the rechargeable glove sends electrical pulses through contact with a person.

The device is intended to help an officer gain compliance during a use-of-force situation.
The planned equipment has attracted attention because of how it could be used during encounters between officers and people facing arrest or removal.
With ICE already causing division within skateboarding, Sanchez's continued support for Trump puts him on a very different side of the debate from several prominent skateboarding brands and pro skaters.
And as DHS considers new equipment for ICE officers, many are saying it's too harsh and inhumane.
