As we previously reported, skateboarder Gerardo Estrada, known as Jerry, was tragically killed by an LAPD vehicle in Highland Park.
The accident happened on Figueroa Street near Sycamore while Jerry was coming home from work.
In response to this heartbreaking loss, Jerry’s family and friends have set up a GoFundMe to help cover funeral expenses and support his loved ones.
The fundraiser was organized by Alejandra Jacobo to honor Jerry’s memory and assist his family during this difficult time.
On the GoFundMe page, Alejandra shared the impact Jerry had on everyone around him:
"The loss of Gerardo Estrada, lovingly known as Jerry, has brought unimaginable grief to our family, friends, and community. With heavy hearts, we are creating this page to support my sister Rosa with funeral expenses and to help lay our beloved nephew Jerry to rest. On Friday night, as Jerry was coming home from work, he was tragically struck and killed by an LAPD vehicle that was responding to another incident."
Jerry is remembered as a kind-hearted person who was always ready to help others. He had a passion for film and media and spent over a decade as part of the Wurstküche family in the Los Angeles Arts District. Friends, coworkers, and everyone who knew him describe him as generous, caring, and someone who could make anyone feel welcome.
The GoFundMe emphasizes that any contribution, no matter the amount, will help ease the financial burden on Jerry’s family and give him the dignified farewell he deserves.
"On behalf of my sister Rosa and our entire family, we are truly grateful for your prayers, love, and messages of support. Please continue to keep Jerry and our family in your thoughts and prayers as we prepare to honor his memory," Alejandra wrote.
Jerry’s death has left a void in the community, and people are coming together to support his family and remember the life of someone who touched so many hearts.
