The skate program in Gaza has come to a stop after the last usable skateboard broke.
With no replacements available and no equipment entering the area since 2023, the local skate sessions can no longer continue.
For the past few years, the Gaza Skate Team has been trying to keep community classes running for children and young people.
Skateboarding has been one of the few activities they’ve been able to use to give kids something active and engaging during difficult conditions.
The team has been working with very limited resources, often stretching old equipment far beyond its normal lifespan.
According to updates from Skate Pal, no skateboards or related gear have been able to enter Gaza since 2023.
Before that, small batches were occasionally sent from their office in Ramallah in the West Bank, which helped keep sessions going for a while longer.
However, that supply line eventually stopped, leaving the team without a reliable way to replace broken boards.
Over time, the existing equipment slowly wore out.
Repairs were done where possible, but the lack of new parts and full boards made it harder to continue.

Now that the final skateboard has broken, the sessions can no longer run at all.
Skate Pal shared that they are still collecting skateboards and equipment at their Ramallah office in hopes of sending them when a route becomes available again.
They have also been in contact with larger organisations working in the region to explore whether there is any way to move equipment into Gaza, but so far there has been no success.
The group is also asking supporters and followers to reach out if they know of any organisations that could help get skateboards and gear into Gaza.
Right now, the program remains paused, with no clear timeline for when it might be able to start again.
