French butchers and skaters finally have something in common thanks to one of the cleverest shop signs you'll ever come across.
In Nantes, France, a butcher shop and a skateshop sit right next to each other.
Rather than each having its own separate sign, they share a single installation that changes depending on where you're standing.
From one direction, it looks like a hanging cut of meat with the word "BOUCHERIE" running across it.
Walk to the other side and that same object suddenly becomes a skateboard complete with wheels, while the letters now spell "SKATE" vertically.
The creative idea came from French artist Julien Amouroux, also known as Le Gentil Garçon.
He designed the piece as part of Le Voyage à Nantes, an annual event that fills the city with public art and creative installations.
It is one of those projects that catches people off guard because the design is so simple, yet it works perfectly for two completely different businesses.
Although the installation has been around for years, it found a much bigger audience after a Nantes resident shared photos of it online.
Since then, the images have continued making the rounds across social media, with many people only realizing after a second look that they were seeing two different objects in one sign.
It is easy to see why it keeps getting shared.
At first glance, it looks like an ordinary storefront display. Then your brain catches up and you realize the butcher's meat has turned into a skateboard simply by changing your viewing angle.
Creative shop signs are nothing new, but this one still stands out because it manages to represent two completely different worlds without feeling complicated.
For anyone walking through the street, it is the kind of detail that makes you stop for a moment, look twice, and appreciate just how smart the design really is.
