Deathwish Skateboards co-founder Erik Ellington shared some tough news about his family recently. On May 14th, his mom was in a serious accident and got hurt pretty badly.
It's been a rough month for the Ellingtons, but thankfully, she's alive and starting to get better.
Ellington gave a big shoutout to the CHP officer who saved his mom's life, the medi-vac team who got her to the trauma center, and the awesome medical staff at Palm Springs Desert Regional.
He's been focused on his mom's recovery, but wanted to let everyone know that she's doing well thanks to the quick help from the emergency responders and medical team.
The skateboarding community has been really supportive, sending good vibes and love during this tough time.
Ellington posted, "To the friends and people out there I have not told, and may have seemed out of touch lately, this past month has been an emotionally difficult one. May 14th my mom was run over and severely injured, but she’s alive and recovering well.
Thank you to the CHP officer for arriving and saving her life, I don’t know his name but I am so grateful. Thank you to the medi-vac team that flew her to the trauma center, and a massive thank you to the surgeons and nurses taking care of her at Palm Springs desert regional, you’re all incredible.
