Professional skateboarder Corey Duffel is showing some support for Dustin Dollin’s partner Julia Pierce as she prepares for gender reconstruction surgery.
As we previously reported, Pierce recently launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover her expenses before and after the procedure.

She has been traveling on tour with Dollin and her band Fine Mess, but the time on the road has also left her dealing with existing debt while preparing for the procedure.
For those wondering what the surgery involves, gender transition surgery refers to medical procedures that can change a person’s physical characteristics so they better align with their gender identity.
The type of treatment varies from person to person and can involve several different procedures.
In Pierce’s case, she is preparing for genital surgery and expects to be unable to work while recovering.
That means she still has to deal with rent, regular bills, food and other everyday expenses while taking time away from work to heal.

That is where the fundraiser comes in.
Pierce is asking for financial assistance to help get through the recovery period without having to worry as much about keeping up with her normal expenses.
She has spent time on the road with Dollin and Fine Mess, bringing their punk rock performances to stages along the way. Now she is preparing for a period where working will not be an option while she recovers.
Pierce is also a strong independent transgender woman who handles her own finances and does not simply ask Dollin to cover her expenses.
The GoFundMe is her way of asking for support from the wider community while she takes time off to recover.
And Duffman knows Pierce as more than just someone out on the road. He gave her props as a “rad guitarist and songwriter,” while also mentioning that she worked at his friends’ store in NYC. Basically, he’s known her around the scene and has seen firsthand what she’s about.
This is why Duffman fully supports her and said: “Julia Rocks.”
It is a simple message but of course meaningful as it comes from the Duffman's heart.
