The last of the Piss Drunx Dustin Dollin has been keeping himself busy outside of skating with his punk band Fine Mess, and the crew has just dropped their debut LP.
It is out now on Bandcamp and will be rolling onto streaming platforms soon.
The release comes after a stretch of work behind the scenes, with Dollin building out the project alongside transgender backing vocalist and guitarist Julia Julia Pierce.
The lineup also includes Jesse Sattler on bass, John Zimmerman on drums, Josephine on piano and guitar, Matthew McAuley on sax, and Roy Molloy also appearing on sax for the track “FUN.”
Recording took place at Sound at Manor with Oak Munson, known for his work with The Black Lips. One of the tracks, “FUN,” was recorded earlier at Hazy Cosmic Jive Studio in Newcastle, Australia with Gareth Hudson. Mixing was handled by Nick Noto under Darkside Family Jams.
The album artwork features a photo by Jimmy Jazz, and the entire project was produced under the Fine Mess name.
Jack Ladder also shared his thoughts on the record, noting the pairing of Dollin with Julia Pierce as a strong creative match.
He described their vocal style and songwriting approach as working well together, drawing comparisons to classic collaborations while pointing out that the material stands on its own.
Fine Mess brings together a mix of punk roots and loose, raw songwriting, shaped by the different backgrounds of everyone involved.
The LP gives a first full-length look at the group’s sound, now available for listeners to check out.
