R.A.D® has officially stepped into skateboarding with the announcement of its first team, bringing together Manny Santiago, Trevor Colden and Marcus Attwood Jr.
The company shared the news on social media with a simple introduction featuring all three skaters and the hashtag #RADSkateboarding.
While R.A.D® has already built its name in performance footwear, this is its first step into skateboarding.
The company describes itself as a footwear brand created by athletes and designers, combining innovation and creativity while staying connected to the culture surrounding the activities its products are made for.
One of the biggest parts of the announcement is Manny's long term involvement with the brand.
According to R.A.D®, the company has spent the last three years working alongside Manny on his first signature skate shoe.
The upcoming model is being developed with an emphasis on durability, comfort and support while carrying the design direction the company wants to bring into skateboarding.
Although the shoe has not been revealed yet, the announcement suggests that its release is getting closer. R.A.D® ended its statement with a short teaser: "Coming soon."
Joining Manny are Trevor and Marcus, giving the new skate division a team that includes experienced professionals with different styles and backgrounds.
With the three skaters representing the brand from the start, R.A.D® appears to be building its presence by working closely with riders instead of simply releasing a skate shoe and hoping it finds an audience.
The announcement was brief, leaving plenty of questions about future products, additional team riders and release dates.
Right now, core heads will have to wait for more details on what R.A.D® has planned for its skateboarding line.
