Competitive contest girl skater Christiana Means has been busy in skating the streets. Right now though she’s taking a break from the board and focusing on getting her knee fixed so she can get back to skating the way she wants.
A GoFundMe is up to help cover the cost of surgery and the recovery that comes after.
Last year while skating in Spain she took a hard slam that left her with a torn meniscus and a sprained MCL.
She spent months in therapy, training, and dealing with pain thinking she was on the way to feeling normal again.
But a recent MRI showed things were worse than she thought. Her old ACL graft is completely gone, she has more meniscus tears, and her MCL is still damaged.
She’s already covered MRIs, physical therapy, and specialist visits herself, but insurance won’t touch an older injury from skateboarding.
Without surgery she could end up with permanent damage that makes it hard to even walk or run without pain, let alone skate.
The fundraiser will help pay for the operation and the long rehab after it.
Christiana says asking for help isn’t easy since she’s always handled her injuries on her own, but this time she can’t do it alone. Even a small donation or just sharing her page can help.
