Skate legend Jason Ellis has done some pretty wild stuff on a skateboard, but his recent trip to Tim Pool’s place might be one of the more memorable ones in recent years.
The Hawk Vs Wolf podcaster rolled in with skate wizard Richie Jackson to hang out on Timcast IRL, talk about the culture war, and swap stories. But after the podcast, things got interesting.
The Boonies is Pool’s private skate park, and it is home to one of the most talked about ramps in the scene.
This drop in is steep, sketchy, and downright mean. A while back, the journalist even threw out a ten thousand dollar reward for anyone who could land it. The money is still sitting in his pocket because no one has pulled it off.
Ellis decided to give it a go. Standing at the top, you can tell right away why nobody has claimed the cash.
He dropped in, and within seconds it was over. The board shot out, Ellis slid to the bottom, and the ramp stayed undefeated.
Even with all his years of skating, he could not make it stick. That is not a knock on him at all. No one has landed it yet, and that includes plenty of people who know their way around massive transitions.
The thing about The Boonies drop in is that it gets in your head before you even put your board down. Skaters talk about it like it is a ghost story.
From the bottom it looks bad, but from the top it feels almost impossible. That is part of why it has become this legendary spot.
Ellis took the whole thing in stride, laughing about it afterward and turning the fail into just another good story. Jackson gave him props for even trying, and Pool seemed stoked to have another big name take a run at it.
So the ramp is still waiting for someone to beat it. Until then, it keeps its title as the meanest drop in around.
