Brooklyn Projects recently shared a heartfelt post about Herndon.
Herndon is an OG figure in the Los Angeles skate scene who has been part of the shop’s story since the Brooklyn House days in the late ’90s.
Herndon has been around skateboarding since the late ’80s, often giving skaters rides to spots and looking out for younger riders. He is also an artist and musician.
Brooklyn Projects shared a funny story from about 10 years ago, when Herndon broke into the shop through a small window to grab a skateboard and shoes.
Police caught him, but the shop decided not to press charges. When asked why he broke into his friends’ store, Herndon reportedly said he was “testing their security systems” and found a flaw.
The shop has now made a limited run of tees for its video premiere, with proceeds going toward getting Herndon a phone.
Long live Herndon.

"We love Herndon. He’s been a part of our journey since the Brooklyn House days in the late 90’s.. to now… but he’s been a part of skateboarding since the late 80’s… he’s a legend in the LA skate scene .. back in the day he would drive and pick up people like @kareemcampbelldotcom and take them to spots as he had a license and a car and was a mentor and big brother to most …

He’s also an amazing artist and musician .. a renaissance man …
-
Over time he has battled addiction and mental health issues … but we NEVER turned our back on him … no matter what.

One time about 10 years ago .. he broke into our store through a small window .. to grab a skateboard and some shoes .. even though we give him so much .. he would sell it for other things .. but the funny thing .. as we are watching the surveillance video of him sneaking around and looking into the camera and smiling .. we couldn’t be mad . The cops caught him … we didn’t press charges .. and when the cops asked him why he broke in to his friends shop.. he said “ I was testing their security systems and found a flaw “ LOL … so fucking funny …

Anyway .. we made some tees for our video premiere … and we have some left that we are dropping online .. proceeds will go to getting Herndon a phone .. as he doesn’t have one and is staying at a half house that doesn’t have a phone .. so he uses ours ..

Check out our video … link in bio… and grab a tee ..

Long live Herndon .."
