The Berrics is officially back and this time it has crossed oceans to land in Japan.
For the first time ever, the crew set up shop at their brand new park in Fuji called BerriQs Skate Plaza.
The plaza has been getting a lot of attention since it was announced and now the first big event is underway with the BATB JPN Special Edition.
Round 1 has already brought out some names you do not want to miss. Tyler Peterson went up against Japan’s own Taisei Hamamura in a battle that set the tone for what is shaping up to be a wild series.
We are not going to give away how it all goes down because this is one you have to sit down and watch for yourself.
This new chapter of BATB is not just about one battle either. The whole event is stacked with top pros who came through to celebrate the launch of the BerriQs Skate Plaza.
You have Peterson rolling in from the States, PJ Ladd now skating under the name Anantjeet Singh, Kelvin Hoefler holding it down, and plenty more names who made the trip to show support.
It feels like a moment where skaters from different generations and backgrounds are meeting in one place to keep the flatground tradition alive.
The best part is that it is happening right at the base of Mount Fuji, giving the new park a setting that is unlike anywhere else BATB has ever been hosted. It is fresh, it is different, and it sets the stage for battles that you just cannot predict.
So if you want to know what happened when Peterson went head to head with Hamamura in the opening round, you will have to hit play.
All we can say is that both skaters came ready and the crowd in Fuji definitely got what they came for.
