Nike just brought some serious luxury industry blood into the boardroom.
As we previously reported, Nike’s stock has taken a serious hit, with the company now set to be removed from the S&P 100 after nearly 18 years in the index.

The company announced that Alexandre Arnault has joined Nike’s Board of Directors. He is currently Deputy CEO of Moët Hennessy, the wines and spirits division of LVMH, and has held that position since February 2025.
If you are a core skater, you already know Nike is way past being just another shoe company.
Nike SB has been part of skateboarding for years, with shoes like the Dunk, Janoski and Blazer becoming staples both inside and outside skate shops.
Now one of the biggest names in luxury is getting a seat upstairs.
Arnault comes from the family behind LVMH. His father, Bernard Arnault, is the company’s chairman and CEO.
Alexandre has built his own resume across some of the group's biggest brands, including Tiffany & Co. and RIMOWA.
Before taking his current role at Moët Hennessy, Arnault spent four years as Executive Vice President of Product, Communications and Industrial at Tiffany & Co.

Before that, he was heavily involved with LVMH’s acquisition of RIMOWA and later became CEO of the luggage company, staying in the position for four years.
His resume also includes work involving technology and digital business at LVMH and Agache, plus time at McKinsey & Company and KKR.
He currently sits on LVMH’s board and serves as a trustee of The Museum of Modern Art in New York. He has also held board positions at Carrefour, Birkenstock and Moncler.
Nike Executive Chairman Mark Parker said Arnault brings experience working with some of the world's biggest brands.
“Alexandre has earned a reputation for helping iconic global brands evolve, innovate and grow in a changing, complex marketplace,” Parker said.
Nike CEO Elliott Hill also pointed to Arnault’s experience with innovation, digital business and building consumer brands.
So what does this mean for skateboarding?
Right now, there is no announcement about a new Nike SB shoe, a team shakeup or any change to the brand’s skate program.

But the appointment is worth watching.
Nike SB has always had to deal with that weird space between skateboarding and the giant sneaker machine.
A shoe can start in a skate shop and end up being chased by sneaker collectors who have never stepped on a board.
The Dunk is probably the wildest example.
Nike turned a basketball silhouette into one of the biggest skate shoes around, then watched it become a sneaker culture obsession far beyond skateboarding.
The Janoski did something different.
A shoe created around a skateboarder became one of Nike’s most recognizable models and brought plenty of people into skate footwear who may not have been checking out skate shops before.
That crossover is a huge part of Nike SB’s story.
Now Arnault, a luxury executive whose career has included Tiffany, RIMOWA, Birkenstock and LVMH, will have a voice in the company behind it.

The interesting part is not the corporate résumé.
It is what happens when someone coming from luxury and high end consumer brands gets involved with a company that still has one foot in skateboarding.
So for now, there is no new shoe to cop, no new rider announcement and no secret skate project to report.
Just an LVMH heir getting a chair at Nike’s table.
And considering how much Nike has already changed the skate shoe game, it will be interesting to see what comes out of that boardroom in a couple of months.

"I’m incredibly honored to join the Board of Directors of @nike .
I’ve been a Nike fan for as long as I can remember. Sport, competition, innovation, creativity, pushing yourself further every day; so much of what this brand stands for has always resonated with me.
Nike has been with me for many kilometres (and all my marathons!) along the way, so having the opportunity to contribute to its future feels particularly special.
Excited to get started and contribute to what comes next.
Just Do It. ✔️"
