Judi Oyama is 66 and still competing at the highest level of skateboarding.
Featured in Guinness World Records 2027, the Santa Cruz skater holds the record as the oldest competitive female skateboarder in the world. She first stepped on a board at 13 after her brother brought one home from shop class.
By 1975, Judi was competing in men’s events because women’s divisions didn’t exist yet. She later found her place in slalom racing, where she continues to compete internationally.
Her record was first recognized in 2024 at 64 years and 326 days old. Now, she has qualified for the 2026 World Skate Games in Paraguay, just weeks before her 67th birthday.
Staying active is a big part of Judi’s routine. She hits CrossFit four mornings a week, lifts weights, trains on her board and gives herself time to recover before races.
Her influence also goes beyond competition. Judi mentors younger female skaters and has coached Leiola Kahaku, who became the Women’s Slalom Skateboard World Champion at just 17.
“I would not be continuing to compete if I wasn’t coaching her,” Judi told Guinness World Records.

Judi has also been inducted into the Skateboarding Hall of Fame, while her vintage racing helmet is part of the Smithsonian collection.
After more than five decades on a skateboard, she is still racing, coaching and inspiring the next generation.
Her advice is simple: surround yourself with people who support your goals, ignore the negativity and, most importantly, wear a helmet.
