Madness Skateboards pro Jedd McKenzie is featured on two covers of the latest SLAM Magazine issue.
It is the first time in 15 years that SLAM has printed an issue with two cover shots. One features Jedd hitting a frontside air on a rusty steel structure in Newcastle, while the other shows him blasting a stalefish at the refurbished Hardcore bowl.
The Newcastle shot was captured on a giant piece of machinery called Kathleen, which was used during construction of Sydney’s Metro rail tunnel.
Jedd and his crew found a short window on Sunday afternoons to get in, skate the spot, and shoot the photo before the structure was removed.
The second cover celebrates 50 years of Hardcore, with Jedd skating the indoor bowl after its recent facelift.
Both covers will be available in skate shops and newsagents from Thursday, September 3.

The giant steel section is part of a beastly boring machine called Kathleen, used to dig Sydney’s Metro rail tunnel beneath the Harbour. Masquerading as “steelworks archivists” to scope the spot and get the backstory, Jedd McKenzie and his crew discovered the only day the workers knocked off early was on Sunday afternoons. They had 40 minutes of daylight before the sun laid itself to rest – to sneak in, skate it, and shoot the shot before it was annihilated. Jedd frontside airs on a thin strip of steel transition – rest in peace Kathleen – may your destruction become another skateable creation.

And to celebrate 50 Years of Hardcore, the Hardcore indoor bowl was given a facelift, pool coping, and a lick of blue for Jedd McKenzie to blast a stalefish off the new extension into the corner.
Both covers will be available in leading skate shops and newsagents this Thursday, September 3.
