Pro skater Leticia Buffoni is looking back on the experience that changed her life after celebrating 20 years with X Games and the completion of the first X Games League season.
The Brazilian skateboarding icon shared a heartfelt message on social media, remembering her first invitation to X Games when she was only 14 years old.
At the time, she traveled from Brazil with the dream of competing at the highest level, not realizing the opportunity would shape the direction of her life.
According to Buffoni, that first trip had such a big impact that she asked her father if she could stay in the United States because she believed it was where she needed to be. Looking back today, she said the memories from those early days still mean a lot to her.
She also shared that X Games helped her grow both as an athlete and as a person.
Buffoni expressed gratitude for every opportunity, every lesson, and every unforgettable experience she has had over the last two decades.
Now, 20 years after her first appearance, Buffoni is part of a different chapter in X Games history. She is one of the Founder Athletes of the X Games League, also called XGL, and recently celebrated the conclusion of its inaugural season.
Buffoni said being involved in helping shape the future of X Games through XGL is something she deeply appreciates.
She congratulated everyone who believed in the project and thanked those who worked hard behind the scenes to bring the league to life.
She also shared her excitement about what comes next as XGL continues to grow.
The post was not only a chance to look back on where everything started, but also an opportunity to celebrate what is next for X Games and the X Games League.
