The Castle Rock Police Department is giving young artists a chance to turn their creativity into a real skateboard deck through its Skate & Deploy program.
Middle and high school students who live in Castle Rock or attend school in the area are invited to submit an original skateboard deck design.
One winning entry will be turned into a custom skateboard deck, giving the artist the opportunity to see their artwork on an actual board.
The contest is part of the department's Skate & Deploy program, which works to connect with local youth through skateboarding and community events.
The selected designs will also be featured during Castle Rock's National Night Out celebration, where community members will vote for their favorite artwork before the final winner is announced.
The grand prize winner will be revealed during the Skate & Deploy celebration in September and will receive a custom skateboard deck featuring their design.
Students interested in entering have until July 17 to submit their artwork. The contest is open to all Castle Rock middle and high school students who either live in the town or attend school there.
For young skaters and artists, it is a fun opportunity to combine creativity with skateboarding while having their work seen by the local community.
Even for those who do not win, participating offers a chance to share their ideas and be part of one of the town's community events centered around skateboarding.
