Deathwish Skateboards pro Taylor Kirby shared some rough news with his followers after revealing that he was hit by a driver while riding near the Silver Lake Reservoir about a week ago.
According to Kirby, the collision left him with a broken jaw that required surgery. He said he now has a plate and screws in his jaw and admitted the situation could have ended much worse.
He wrote:
"A week ago I got smoked by an anxious driver at the silver lake reservoir. Broke my jaw and now I got a plate and screws in my mouth for L. It shoulda been worse. The last 7 days showed me I have the best friends, family, teammates and fans in history.
Thank you @fairdalebikes for over 2,500 miles on this bike alone. Sad to see her go.

While recovering from the injury, Kirby took time to thank the people who reached out to him over the last week. He said the support from his homies, family, teammates, and fans meant a lot during a difficult time.
He also gave a shoutout to Fairdale Bikes, saying he had ridden more than 2,500 miles on the bike that was involved in the crash. Although he was sad to lose it, he seemed more focused on looking ahead than dwelling on what happened.
Kirby also ended his update with some good news for skateboard fans.
Despite the injury and recovery process, he revealed that a new Deathwish Skateboards video is still on the way.
There is no word yet on how long his recovery will take or when he will be back skating, but skaters were happy to see him staying positive after such a serious accident.
Many are wishing Kirby a smooth recovery while looking forward to seeing him back on his board when the time is right.
