There is only one professional skateboarder politician ever in the history of skateboarding and that's one and only Mikey Taylor.

He recently won a mayoral seat in Thousand Oaks and now works in local government there.

Another example is Marco DiBattista, a skateboarder serving as a mayor in Pennsauken Township as part of the Democratic Party.

There is also OG pro skater James Kelch, often called the unofficial mayor of the Embarcadero skate spot.

Now attention turns to Brooklyn Projects Skateshop owner Dom DeLuca after he posted a photo of himself standing on a podium in a political office setting.

The caption on his post read, “Los Angeles. 2028. Practice makes perfect.”

That post quickly led to discussion about whether he could step into a political role in Los Angeles in the future.

No formal announcement has been made, but the wording and setting of the post led to speculation among people following both skateboarding and local community topics.

Dom has built his name through Brooklyn Projects and his long involvement in skateboarding culture in LA.

He has also been active in community support, including helping local residents, giving away skate shoes, and assisting vendors around his area when needed.

These actions have shaped how many people view him beyond skateboarding retail.

Some supporters have begun talking about what it would look like if he entered the 2028 LA political race.

The post added more attention to that idea, especially with the direct reference to the city and year.

There has been no confirmation from Dom about running for office. At this point, the post is just something that got skaters talking rather than an official announcement.

Still, it has placed his name in a different type of conversation compared to what people usually associate him with.

For now, things remain open ended.

The skate community and those following his work will likely continue watching if he is really about it, especially with 2028 being part of the conversation he put out there himself.
