Brooklyn Projects Skateshop business owner Dom DeLuca has always been someone who looks out for people.
Recently he had to step up in a big way. A lady vendor who has been holding it down on Melrose Avenue got hassled by the city just for trying to make a living. Some person from a nearby business had a problem with her and called the city on her.
Dom had to step in and says it was wrong. This lady is the sweetest, hardest working person he has seen and yet the city went after her while all the real nonsense on Melrose gets ignored.
He let everyone know he is not standing for anyone trying to mess with her hustle.
To show his support, Dom gave her money and offered her space in front of his shop Brooklyn Projects and even inside if she wanted.
He said these are the people that matter, the ones that keep the streets and the community alive.
The move had everyone in the neighborhood smiling, seeing someone actually step up for the people who make the place what it is.
For Dom it was not about headlines it was about doing right by someone grinding every day and showing that real ones look out for each other.
Melrose might be full of noise but moments like this remind everyone what the hood is really about respect, support and keeping it real.
