Pro skaters Austyn Gillette and Elijah Berle recently came together for a Thrasher Magazine “VS” episode where they talked through their past issues and caught up in person after a long stretch of tension between them.

The conversation touched on how things started to go sideways after comments Gillette made during a past interview on The Nine Club podcast.

In that discussion, he spoke about style in skating and brought up Dylan Rieder’s influence, along with his connection to Jason Dill and FA World Entertainment.

Those remarks ended up being taken in different ways by different people, which led to friction between Gillette and Berle.

Unfortunately, Berle didn't like what he said at that time, which added confusion around the situation, as Gillette speculated that he didn't get on the team because Berle was influenced by Rieder’s style.

That moment ended up spilling into online discussions and led to a lot of back and forth among fans and creators talking about what was said and what was meant.

Gillette later shared thoughts suggesting that team decisions around him were influenced by perceptions tied to those comments and comparisons.

Even YouTube commentary creator Gifted Hater weighed in on the situation, comparing it to Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber’s public disagreements involving Justin Bieber.

Over time, things cooled down and both skaters eventually agreed to meet at Thrasher headquarters. That meeting gave them space to talk face to face and go over everything that had been said and misunderstood over the years.

During the episode, both Gillette and Berle spoke openly about their history, how they viewed those older moments, and how things feel now.

The talk also included lighter topics like past gear choices, magazine covers, and shared connections within skateboarding culture.

Thrasher later shared a note on the episode saying the online disagreement had been settled and that the two were able to sit down together and talk through their past, along with many other topics from their careers.
