Skateboarding legend Duane Peters has opened up about where he is with smoking right now, saying he has been slowly cutting down and doing it in a way that feels manageable for him instead of following strict programs or quick fixes.
DP says he is currently down to around five to three cigarettes a day after previously being at about half a pack daily for a few months.
Before that, he explains that his smoking habits have gone up and down over the years, including times when he was smoking much more heavily in earlier decades.
In his message, DP reflects on how he has tried different methods in the past to quit or cut back, including things like acupuncture and other approaches, but says those did not really work for him at the time.
The Master of Disaster also mentions that at one point he was smoking far less and felt stable with it, but life circumstances and personal loss made things change again over time.
He talks about recently finding a method that feels simpler for him, which involves rolling or preparing his own cigarettes and slowly reducing how much he uses each day.
The acid drop inventor describes it as something he can control at his own pace without pressure, saying that lowering his intake gradually has made the process feel more manageable.
He also shares personal reasons behind wanting to cut back, including not liking the feeling of dependence and wanting to reduce costs.
He mentions family and personal memories as part of what motivates him to keep going in this direction.
While he is not making strict promises about completely stopping right away, he says he is continuing to lower his intake and see how far he can take it.
His focus is on reducing gradually and staying consistent rather than forcing sudden change.
