Skateboarding influencer Chad Caruso was out here doing something most people would call crazy.
He grabbed his skateboard, threw a bag over his shoulder, and rolled across America from Virginia Beach all the way to the West Coast. That trip was no joke. At one point he even ate it off his board and ended up in the ocean, but he kept it moving.
On May 19, 2023, Chad locked in a Guinness World Record for the fastest skateboard crossing of the U.S. by a dude, taking 57 days, six hours, and 56 minutes.
He wasn’t just skating through cities either. He hit deserts, climbed hills in the Appalachians, rolled over dirt roads and busy highways.
This wasn’t just about skating across the country. Chad’s grind had a purpose. He wanted to shine a light on addiction and mental health struggles.
He’s been clean for over nine years and says staying sober is like skating coast to coast. It ain’t easy, it’s full of roadblocks, and some days you just gotta fight to get to the next block.
Skateboarding kept him sane, gave him a way out, and now he’s hoping his story can do the same for somebody else.
