As we previously reported, Tyshawn Jones is in the middle of a legal battle with Supreme.
The lawsuit, which is reportedly worth $26 million, started after the brand ended his sponsorship, which had been paying him around $1 million a year.
Supreme claimed he broke the contract by participating in a Marc Jacobs campaign, but Jones says the real motive was budget cuts before the company changed hands.
He also claims the brand spread false information that hurt his reputation in the skateboarding community.
In a recent interview with GQ, he opened up about the scale of his deal. Apparently, he was earning over $83,000 a month just for showing up in Supreme clothes, including tops, bottoms, and underwear. For many, that kind of income for wearing the brand every day seems almost unbelievable.
The King Skateboards CEO’s relationship with Supreme goes way back. He was around 13 when he first connected with the brand, and he spent more than ten years growing alongside it.
Even with the legal fight playing out in court, his influence on New York skating culture is still clear, with his lawyers calling him the Michael Jordan of skateboarding.
Skaters are glued to the headlines, but Jones still gets mad respect for what he’s done in the fashion and skate world.
