Streetlab is standing on the edge and we’ve got one last try.

"Streetlab is standing on the edge, and we’ve got one last try.
In front of us lies El Toro. No one has ever done a switch crook on El Toro before. It is the heaviest, most dangerous stair set in skating history. That is exactly what this business pivot feels like: high risk, high reward. The run-up is bondoed and smooth. The rail is waxed. At the bottom of this massive stair set stand all our customers, the team, and everyone who has ever used the shop as their hub, their safe place, their second living room, ready to catch us. We’re going full speed for a switch crook.
There’s a crack in the board, and the shoelaces are torn after all the wear and struggle it took to get us here. But now we’re here.
We choose to play with open cards. The crack in the board is financial and acute. After a long winter, we are dragging a heavy backlog that must be cleared now. This isn't just about keeping the lights on; it’s about covering the essentials: rent, outstanding invoices to suppliers, staff salaries, and the inevitable, heavy pressure from Skatteverket. We have a choice: either we put the board on the shelf and give up - or we give it all we´ve got.
To become an online store only was never an option. Our passion and our purpose have always been to offer a place to meet, to serve, and to help the Malmö skateboard scene grow. Over the years we’ve supported over 50 skaters from Malmö and Sweden, legends like Jugga, Pennan, Oski, Heitor, Steffen, Sarah, Filly, Nando, Axel and Marnell. For 25 years we’ve given everything we have. Now we need all the help we can get.
Retail death, online commerce, and a skateboard industry in crisis have the odds stacked against us, but we’ve always rolled with resistance. This time is no different. We’ve decided: Streetlab must continue.
On the other side of this, we change course. Streetlab will still be a meeting place for the skate scene, but the format is evolving. We are shifting toward a sustainable model built on strategic collaborations with other businesses and a sharpened focus on events and agency work. We are building for the long-term, convinced that we still have a place, a purpose, and a role to play.
The support from the scene and from friends has been overwhelming, and we’re incredibly grateful. But now we need to take one more push. As we approach our 25-year anniversary, we’re organizing a celebration of biblical proportions. We’ll be auctioning off rarities, exclusive artwork, and launching this GoFundMe campaign. The goal is to survive so that we can reset and move forward.
Strategists, the companies we represent, and friends with invaluable expertise have helped us define clear goals and a sustainable plan. We have an army of skaters supporting us. And we also have an army of skaters to keep supporting.
We’re pushing as hard as we can toward the handrail. This time it’s do or die, literally. If we land it, we make history. If we miss, we will slam hard. There’s no turning back now. We’re not afraid of getting hurt. The only thing that scares us is not giving it a full-hearted attempt.
There may be a crack in the board. That hasn´t stopped us before. Now there’s only one thing left to do: pop, grind, and land. We’ll do EVERYTHING it takes to land bolts.
