Bam Margera is back in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater and it’s not because Activision suddenly had a change of heart.
It’s because Tony Hawk refused to let his longtime friend and original cast member get left out.
As we previously reported, Margera had originally been excluded from the updated version of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 - a move that frustrated fans who grew up watching him wreck spots, crack jokes, and get weird with the rest of the OG lineup.
But while some might’ve accepted it and moved on, The Birdman clearly wasn’t one of them.
According to multiple sources, Hawk stepped in directly and pushed Activision to do the right thing.
It’s a big moment for anyone who grew up playing the early Pro Skater games.
Margera wasn’t just another skater on the roster, he was part of the identity of THPS 3 and 4. From his real-life antics to his wild in-game character, he brought something different. His absence would’ve felt like a huge chunk of the game was missing.
It’s also a rare case where someone with real pull actually used it to stand up for someone else.
The vert legend could’ve just kept quiet and stayed on Activision’s good side. Instead, he went to bat for Margera - not out of nostalgia, but out of fairness.
The two have been through a lot over the years, and while their paths have diverged at times, this move shows that Hawk hasn’t forgotten who helped build the Pro Skater name alongside him.
Now that Bam’s back in, skateboarders can expect to see his character in the lineup when the game drops.
Hawk stepping up to make this happen just adds more respect to an icon who’s already done more than enough for skateboarding.
