King Skateboards head honcho Tyshawn Jones had shocked the skateboarding world before with his massive kickflip gap on the 145th Subway Gap in New York, then saved his backside flip for his final Skater Of The Year contender - shutting down everyone, especially Nyjah Huston's absurd "Need That" Nike SB video.
The 25-year-old has snagged the two-time most prestige awards in skateboarding history and is is now aiming for his third win with another ridiculous 360 flip gap at the same spot.
Only Three Are Two-time SOTYs: Danny Way, Chris Cole, and the King Skateboards boss.
Although Gary Rogers already revealed on how to win SOTY by making Thrasher money and helping the mag to get more eyes and copies of the cover.
According to Rogers, the key lies in helping Thrasher increase its revenue and expand its readership. By doing so, not only do you make a significant contribution to the growth of the skate bible, but you also increase your chances of being recognized as the Skater of the Year.
Still, skateboarders are stunned to what Jones did as it's only the end of the first quarter, going to the second only. He then post two stories of a spot and him climbing the stairs to film a new banger.
When the final stage is set, more professional skateboarders will post their insane videos. Hence, it still depends on whether they want to showcase them on different platforms or just have Thrasher do it for more chances of winning SOTY for 2024.
