Thrasher Magazine's 2008 Skater Of The Year, Silas Baxter-Neal, has just received a special honor: a guest pro board from Metal Skateboards.
The board features a striking graphic designed by Metal's in-house artist, showcasing Baxter-Neal's name in bold letters and an image of a Bakwas or "Wildman of the Woods."
"We’ve known Silas since 2005 King of the Road," Metal Skateboards states. "He was one of the Habitat guys that was always down the rock metal gear so when it came to working on another guest board it became an easy decision."
Thye added. "When I reached out we started talking about some of his local folklore, he laid out a good idea and in walked The Bakwas also know as “Wildman of the Woods”. Bakwas lives in the forest where the woods meet the water."
"As the legend goes he lives in an invisible house with the spirits of the drowned, these drowned are lured in with ghost food resembling salmon and berries but are really rotten wood and maggots." They said. "Anyone who eats this offering is doomed to become like the Bakwas themselves. This one was drawn up by Sean Pryor and comes in Silas’s 8.25 Habitat shape and we threw in our reshaped alien 90’s football in 8.75."
