You’ll Soon Shred Virtual Streets Without Getting Hurt in The Upcoming Game “Virtual Skate”

Skating in real life is great, but sometimes your knees, the weather, or that one sketchy ledge just don’t cooperate.

That’s where Virtual Skate steps in. Developed by Flip Axis Studios, this new VR title is built for anyone who's ever wanted to spend more time on their board - even if it’s from the comfort of their living room.

Coming soon to Quest 3 and SteamVR, Virtual Skate is exactly what it sounds like a virtual reality skateboarding game that drops you straight onto the board.

No controller button combos here. This is a hands-on, full-body experience.

Players use their hands to control their feet (yeah, it sounds wild), letting them flick and do some wild front salad and back salad moves (cue Owen Wilson) with a physics-based system that mimics real movement.

A teaser dropped recently on YouTube showing off a bit of gameplay, and it’s clear Flip Axis Studios is going for something that feels real—not just in terms of how you move, but how the board reacts too.

Every kickflip, manual, and grind responds to your motion, without the slams and scraped palms that usually come with the territory.

One of the lead devs, Jon West, brings past experience from working on Skater XL, which means the team knows what makes a skating game feel legit.

Virtual Skate isn’t the first VR skate title (shoutout to VR Skater by Deficit Games), but it’s shaping up to be one of the most detailed and hands-on yet.

The best part? You can roll around solo or link up with friends to session together rain or shine, ankle brace or not.

It’s ideal for skaters who still have the mindset but maybe not the cartilage, or for anyone who just wants to cruise and film virtual clips without getting kicked out of a spot.

Virtual Skate is listed as “coming soon,” so if you’ve got a Quest 3 or a decent PC VR setup, it might be time to start waxing your (virtual) ledges.
